That One Thing...

I have been thinking a lot lately (so much it's probably getting to a point where it is bad for my health) about what I want to do with my life...

You think since I am on my third year of being moved out and this is my second semester taken off of school that, that would have been plenty of time to discover my calling in life, career wise...but no, here I sit confused as ever.

The thing is I haven't found that one thing... Well, I'm not sure if I have found it or not...The thing that defines who I am.

At some point in everyone's life they become something. Like they become a Business man or an Artist, a Mom or something like a Radiologist, a Teacher, or how about a Marine Biologist, an Adventurer, a Counselor, a Doctor, Ski bum, or a Dentist...

They all find that one thing and then they know what they are suppose to be when they grow up.

When in the world do you figure out what that thing is that helps you become what you are suppose to be?! Some people seemed to be born with that figured out. Do you just make a list of the things you love the most and find a career in that? Or do you find something you're really good at?  Or find something that you would be the most successful in and have lots of job security and make lots of money? OR do you find something that you love, that you will make lots of money, and that your really good at...

Is that even POSSIBLE?!

Another thing I'd like to know is do you keep doing school and trying different things until you figure it out? I mean that isn't just some pocket change that I have lying around. School is  A LOT of money.

Do you just save up your money until you know...

Also I'd like to know if you have to be just one thing? What if I want to be more than one thing?

.
So if you were wondering why I only have my life planned up to December and I still don't know what I'm gonna do it's because I have these questions plus a billion more running through my head...

It's like an explosion of paperwork went off in my head and while I'm trying to sift between what documents go into my brain file and what papers go into my heart file, and what goes into the talents, passions, worries, hopes, and the dreams files there are boys, friends, family members, bills, homework, drama, and ultimately life who keep rudely stepping on those papers, distracting me, spilling and knocking over all the files I already organized. Life is running around in my brain, like a crazy ape unorganizing and destroying everything just as fast as I figure out and file something in it's proper place!!!

And just when I don't think it could get any worse or any crazier I realize that, on hey here is a whole other room with another explosion of paper work. This one is fulled with the possibilities of going on a mission, traveling the world, becoming a bum, or just screwing everything and marrying someone rich...

One thing is for sure, both rooms scare the crap out of me...and right now I am spending most of my time in the coasting room. But the more I coast the more I sweat and worry about the other two rooms.

Don't get me wrong, I'm super happy and I am absolutely loving life right now.

I just know that the clock is ticking everyday and I'm getting closer an closer to when I'm gonna have to face those rooms. I'll probably procrastinate as much as possible and then I'll run at them head first into that horrific explosion and organize it best I can and then pray that I'll find that one thing. I might have to go through the mission room first, but I know somehow, someway I'll make it work.

For the time being I have decided to live by these three quotes.

Well that's my venting craziness for now. Wish me luck.

The Kick off Weekend for Safari Saturdays!

Rachel, Jacy and I discovered one day that we all had a pair of safari pants. It went something like this...I was sitting at Jacy and Rachel's apartment kitchen table, and Rachel walks out stating that she is going to wear her safari pants (the ones her mother hates) to her Planet Earth class that day. She said it would help her be more intimate with the biosphere. I laughed and said hey I have a pair of pants like those and I think so does Jacy. WE should get matching safari sandals! Then one thing lead to another and we came up with the idea of making every Saturday from here on out a Safari Saturday. Basically we do awesome outdoor, fun, adventures while wearing safari attire. Here is our kick off weekend in Jackson Hole, Wyoming over Memorial weekend.

Cliff Jumping into Phelps Lake (Me)

Lexi and the girl who Mooned us (I forget
her name haha) are  on the left.

Jacob flying like an eagle on the right with Samari Marc :)

The water was fre-re-Freezing!!

Marc

                            Nacho Dive!

Marc totally fit into jacy's board shorts haha We all died laughing. I can't laugh to much cause Jacy is two sizes smaller than me haha.

Joe, you can almost hear his war cry. haha

Marc and Kelcey, being sexy as usual.

This is Rachel. Oh man I was so proud of her for jumping. She was scared out of her mind and she was last to go but she DID IT!!! We all owed her a bag of peanut butter M&M's. I don't think there are many things Rachel wouldn't do for a bag of those Delicious treats ;)

Then we almost got eaten by a bear. Seriously! We were walking to Phelps lake on this little dirt trail when all the sudden these people were shoos-hing us and tell us to stop walking and then literal ten feet in front of us a big black bear walks on the path right in front of us. We all were quiet and watched what it was doing. It started heading towards us and Marc told us to go back. We booked it back to the road(which you aren't suppose to run haha but we panicked). Then these random strangers in their truck opened their doors and yelled "Get in!" All twelve us scrambled in, on and on top of this truck. Then the bear walked on its merry way down to this tree that it started chompin on it. It was CRAZY! I have never been that close to a bear before. Man It could have been bad if those people didn't stop of us from walking right on top of it.

Then we floated the river in our lifejackets

Devin, Jacob, Jacy, Kelcey, Rachel

We have no idea how cold its gonna be haha

This is our Fantastic Safari dinner! So Delicious!

And here is the rest of the pics of our adventures :)

oh i forgot to mention we hit up an 80's dance on friday night. We look Hott!

So, obviously you can tell that our first Safari Saturday (plus Sunday and Monday) was a complete success! We had a blast and there will be many many safari Saturdays to come!!

peace and blessings love
Kelcey

The farthest I have ever ran in my LIFE!

Yep, it's true. My sister, Marc, and I ran the Top of Utah Half Marathon and lived... It was pretty iffy there around mile ten, but after 2:58:22.5 hrs, extremely swollen ankles, few blisters, and buckets and buckets of sweat later we did it ;)

...

It all started about a few months ago when the bank I work for offered to sponsor me to run this Top of Utah race. In my head I thought "oh yeah I'm a born distance runner, I can do that." but in reality I haven't done any hard core running since I ran cross country my sophomore year of high school which is about...oh 6 years ago and the farthest I ever ran in my whole life was 10 miles. This is also the same time they offered me some desperately needed overtime, in which I would be working about 10 to 11 hours a day. Again I thought to myself, "Well, if I run a couple times, I'll be fine."

...

Well, before I knew it was 3 months later and I was awaken by a screeching alarm clock, laying flat on my back in a hotel room bed, at 4:15 in the morning. Time to get dressed for race day...boy was I in trouble.

...

While Jacy, Marc, and I stood under the black starry sky at about 5:30 in the morning, waiting in line behind about one thousand people to get on the shuttle (yellow school buses) we all were shaking in our bones. None of us felt ready. But there were about 2,600 runners and in my mind i thought..."gee whiz there has to be somebody slower than me, I'll will be ok."

When we finally stepped on the toasty warm buses and reached the starting line a volunteer, in charge man, got on and told us where we could drop off our extra clothes, where the port a potties were, wished us good luck, told us to run fast and not to disgrace our families.

I had to mentally make that a goal in my head, who knows what i'm  gonna be thinking two hours from now.

Waiting at the starting line I had three goals in mind *Do not walk, jog the entire thing*, *no disgrace*, and *finish*.

...

...

...

!Bang!

The Gun shot starting the race and we were off!

Mile 1: Whoah nelly this is pretty darn fast for my pace, lets just slow this right down.

Mile 2: Oh baby mile two already, I feel great!

Mile 3: Aw crap is my shoe coming untied already...remember don't stop, that's your goal

Mile 4: Pretty sure an 80 year old man with an oxygen tank just passed me...maybe is should speed up..nah! This is my race I go at my own speed.

Mile 5: Woah, I think a 12 year old boy just passed me...what the heck! Some bare foot lady just ran passed me.
oh and my other shoe lace is untied. great

Mile 6: oh baby i'm almost half way, and I still feel great...maybe I won't die after all

Mile 7: whew I'm past half way...kinda feeling a little Leary, but I can do this! Pretty sure Marc just passed the finish line....Aww Rachel came to watch what a sweetheart...cheese ;)

Mile 8: Where the freak is the mile 8 marker?! This is the longest mile of my life!!!! *looks at clock* Oh my heck I have to run another hour!!

Mile 9: oh shoot, I already ran mile 8. That's a freaking relief...

Mile 10: (pretty sure I hit my wall at this point) After i thought "aww tear :') this is the longest I have ever ran in my whole life" I then thought.....Dear Lord up above, please run me over with a truck asap!!!! I wanna flippen die!!!! Pretty sure my feet are going to break off at the ankles any second now. My legs are barely moving! I can count 10 people walking in front of me and people who have finished already are jogging back home.(that's depressing), my shoes are still untied and if i stop now i might kill over...If those runners who finished and are jogging back were on the same side of this street and if i had the strength I would deck them in the face! oh what's this lovely song on my play list..."Carry on"...figures...

Mile 11: Caaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrryyyyy onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn onnnnn on!!!! I literally sang this out loud...If your lost and alone, and your sinking like a stone, Carrrrrrrrrryyyyy onnn. May the past be the sound of your feet upon the ground. Caaaarrrry ooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnn

Tied my shoes at this point...almost blacked out...See Marc running back like some of the other bone heads...He spots me...I mouth..."I hate you so much right now" haha

Marc starts jogging with me at this point and I think, I can't believe you just ran the entire thing and now are jogging the last mile and a half with me...Please don't leave me lol

Mile 12: Oh my heck I can see the finish line, Thank the good lord I am almost done!

Finish line: (announcer man)...Kelcey Jones...Logan Utah...

Wow, let me tell you that was one crazy experience! Even though I got about an hour slower time than I thought I would and I barely beat a 70 year old lady by 3 minutes, I'm proud to say that I did  it. I completed all of my goals :) At about mile ten I wasn't sure I was going to make it, but by some miracle I did. And I can actually say I'm pretty proud of myself and jacy and marc for doing such a crazy thing. I now know what I'm getting myself into if I want to cross a marathon off on my bucket list.

Right now I can't even fathom or even imagine the possibility of running that entire thing twice. But if I actually train, and fix my form. It might be a possibility for me in the future lol. I don't know who came up with this crazy idea of running marathons and such and why we are crazy enough to do them. But there is some sort of satisfaction of saying, yeah i did that... and after all is said and done...it wasn't that bad haha

Summer Highlights!

Wow, the summer is totally almost over and you think since I didn't have much to do I would have been better at posting. I like to blame it on my laptop. I can't figure out how to update my browser and it won't let me blog with the old browser. I know that updating isn't that hard, I've done it on my work computer. But my laptop just hates me. It is so lazy it hardly ever works. I definitely need to get a new one soon before this one croaks or I run it over with my car.

N.e. ways. So this summer can basically be summed up in a few words; working at the bank, weddings, overtime, new hobbies, yellowstone, jackson hole, alot of working, paid off car, f.h.e. leader, and basically I worked a ton.

Some say that I was anti social.  (marc, my mother) But it actually was a really nice relaxing summer for me :) The past couple of summers I worked alot but I also played ALOT! I don't know if I'm getting old or what but I just really enjoyed not doing that much this summer.

Hobbies I picked up:  water color painting, and the guitar.

Me rocking the guitar

Exciting things that happened: I helped my Andrea's fiance propose :) My cousin Alek got married, So did my old roommate Morgan Hall Mcrorey, I paid off my car, My cousin Rhy got his mission call to Sao Paulo Brazil! My old roommate Alli Berger turned in her papers, Evelyn is going to have her baby

Andrea had no idea she was about to be proposed to hahaha!
My fantastic old Roommate and her adorable husband *aw* sigh

My cute cuz Rhy. He leaves in November for Brazil!!

My goofy cousin Alek on his wedding day. :) I swear this big grin on his face was stuck like that all day

They are too dang cute it's gross lol

Vacations I went on: Went to jackson hole and my sis took me down the river, hit up yellowstone and sun valley with the fam, Morgan family reunion, and Went up to jackson one more time and went down the river with the whole fam and saw my aunts run the epic relay race.

 Good old yellowstone! LOVE IT!

Jackson Hole Going down the river :)

The rest of the summer:I worked at cache valley bank in bookkeeping, proof, and at branch 49 (which is ok cause i love my job), I planned activities for family home evening because i was called as a leader, and  I watched alot of chick flicks and ate alot of popcorn.

So I'd say that was a pretty darn good summer!!
Hopefully I'll keep you posted more often and you will hear from me for next summer starts.

love Kelcey!

P.s. thank you to my mom and sister who took all these awesome pictures. Thanks for letting me steal them :)
